This mod pissed me off, because it tries to lean into historical accuracy with one foot while steadfastly refusing to address the deepest issues of historical accuracy the game actually has. I don’t mind if the Soviets bleed divisions left and right, so long as you give them the tools to replace those divisions the way they did in real life. There was NEVER a shortage of rifles, for any major power, because no major power waited til the war to start producing guns. The Soviets had HUNDREDS of divisions’ worth of spare equipment and trained manpower, which they mobilized in six months. The starting division count is accurate, but it does not at all model the ability to replace those divisions. The fact of the matter is simply that WWII was not balanced. If someone with knowledge of the war went back in time to July 1941, the war would end in 1944, because the Germans were simply outmatched. They rolled straight sixes and still came up short. So any WWII game that attempts balance between axis and allies must inherently be unrealistic. A rather disheartening loss. I don’t enjoy the first five years of a playthrough; it gets repetitive. I like the challenge of reorganizing a front line under fire. But I can’t abide a game that was built wrong.

I always like to imagine how legendary the leaders of these countries would be in HOI4 games like this. Chiang Kai-Shek here has taken a ruined, backwards, and divided country, and he has singlehandedly united it, turned it into the single most powerful nation on earth, and has undone pretty much every single bad thing that happened during the century of humiliation, all in the span of 8 YEARS. King Arthur (an intentionally exaggerated mythical character) never achieved anything near that magnitude in his entire fictional life.

To be fair if you get good blueprint stealers as operatives you do get good buffs, like a year ahead bonus for any industry tech or infantry and so on, it can make you reach things like construction 4 super early if done right
